New Addition

June 26, 2008

I’ve discovered a snazzy little bit of javascript called Lightbox (www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2), and have used it in a new page added to the main site. I’ve been looking for a way to nicely, but easily, display some photography, and this does the trick. The design is very basic at the moment, but I really just wanted something simple to get it out there. I’ll be playing with the design as I get time.

Which is scarce, lately. In addition to the vet job and the internship, I’ve been doing some freelance work for Chatham. I’m creating a flash based campus tour for their admissions website, which will showcase some video tours shot and edited by Chatham students. The goal is to have it ready for fall semester, and it’s coming along nicely so far. I’m excited to see the videos, which should be completed soon.

Back to school, again.

February 19, 2008

I’ve decided to pick up some more web skills, and enrolled in a CSS and XHTML class. I’ve learned what I can from various websites, but I think an actual structured class is probably the best way to go about this. At the moment, I can either make a website in Flash, or using tables in Dreamweaver (which was apparently outdated even before I learned to do it that way in college). I’ve also started learning SQL and Access, and have made some mostly unnecessary databases. I’ve always loved Excel more than a person probably should, so I’ve gone a bit nuts with this new way to organize data. No one needs their grocery list as a database.
