My internship with Fireman will be on hold for a bit while I do a bit of freelancing over at D&GG Advertising. Many thanks to both agencies; they’ve both been great about working around my schedule and have given me the opportunity to do some great work. The Chatham admissions project is still in the works, and I’ve added on a few design and photography gigs. You know, in my free time.

New Addition
June 26, 2008I’ve discovered a snazzy little bit of javascript called Lightbox (www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2), and have used it in a new page added to the main site. I’ve been looking for a way to nicely, but easily, display some photography, and this does the trick. The design is very basic at the moment, but I really just wanted something simple to get it out there. I’ll be playing with the design as I get time.
Which is scarce, lately. In addition to the vet job and the internship, I’ve been doing some freelance work for Chatham. I’m creating a flash based campus tour for their admissions website, which will showcase some video tours shot and edited by Chatham students. The goal is to have it ready for fall semester, and it’s coming along nicely so far. I’m excited to see the videos, which should be completed soon.

Confessional Rides Again
June 26, 2008Unfortunately, I missed out on the joy that is putting together Confessional. But I did make it out of work in time for the Media Tonic opening at Filmmakers (www.pghfilmmakers.org/mt3). The theme this year was “Uncensored”, and our piece made a very interesting addition. After checking out some pornographic films from the 1920s or the phantasmagoria dance party, patrons were able to confess about their experiences without leaving the show. Franktuary was also there, rounding out the religious vibe (www.franktuary.com). We got a lot of great new additions to the piece, and it seemed very well received. Debate is still raging over what will eventually become of Confessional, as it currently resides in Andrew’s basement.

Confessional 2.0
May 15, 2008You may have seen my last post about the Confessional 2006 project (a large confessional covered in bathroom graffiti is hard to miss). We decided to enter it into an exhibition through Pittsburgh Filmmakers, and it was accepted. It will be included in the Media Tonic Installation which will run from June 5th to June 8th. Confessional 2006 lives!

February 22, 2008While at Chatham, I did a short documentary on women’s hockey called “Piranha”. The Pittsburgh Piranhas are an amateur women’s ice hockey team (www.pittsburghpiranhas.com), and they allowed me to interview the team, and tag along to a tournament in Ohio. While I was there, I was able to meet the founder of the team, who had since moved to Dayton. Everyone was super cooperative and it was a great experience overall. Recently, a representative from HDFest (www.hdfest.com) approached me about featuring the video in their documentary showcase. Just click on “watch documentaries” in the sidebar to check it out!

It’s official
August 18, 2007I’ve graduated! I now have an MFA in Film and Digital Technology from Chatham University.

Back to School
August 27, 2006After looking at several schools, and going to three for interviews, I’m officially enrolled at Chatham College in Pittsburgh. I’ll be earning my MFA in Film and Digital Technology, which is offered for the first time this year. Our graphic design program was only about two years in when I started, so I suppose I have some experience as an academic guinea pig. I’ll be taking traditional film classes, but there’s also a lot of focus on creating video and animations for the web, and using different media.
I’ve only been out of college for 8 months, but it’s still going to be tough getting back into that collegiate mindset. Should be an interesting experience.

Hello, blog.
May 10, 2005I’m not much of a blogger, really. I write inasmuch as any average person has to write, on occasion, but have never considered myself a capital “w” Writer. This is despite the fact that I’m technically published – one undergraduate thesis for California and one Master’s for Chatham. It’s really more of a byproduct of what I do, and so is this blog. I’ll be using this in conjunction with my existing website (*cough* www.mooredesign.us *cough*), as a way to show my work.
Not everything belongs on the main page, and those things that are posted there aren’t discussed in detail. This blog will be a home for my side projects, some more in depth description of my main projects, and ongoing news about Moore Design.
So hello, blog.
