I know it’s been a lot more photography news than design news lately, but that just seems to be where my projects are taking me right now. As you may have noticed over at the photo-a-day project, I went and picked up a Nikon D40 with an 8GB card (I can’t believe how cheap those things have gotten, back in my day… ahem. Sorry).

I also thought that now would be a nice time for the photography site to spread its little wings, and it has since moved over to http://www.mooreclick.com. I’ve done my best to make sure that everything is functional before it went live, but no move is without its kinks. If you find something isn’t working for you, please give me a heads up! There will still be some CSS fiddling to get everything settled in, but Moore Photography officially has its own web space.

Picking up

September 18, 2008

It seems that putting the effort into sprucing up the photo site has been worth it. I’ve booked some interesting work – a dinner party in October and a wedding in May – with opportunities popping up all the time. I’ve always loved taking and editing photos, so I’m glad I’m able to make it a bigger part of my life.

In honor of all these photo ops, I’m also going to be sprucing up my equipment list. Some of your profits should always be reinvested in your business, so I’m planning to use some of the money I make from photography for photography. The photo-a-day project should be a great opportunity to practice with the new gear!

Moore Photography

September 9, 2008

I’ve been tinkering with the photography site lately, since I’m getting a lot of responses for freelance photography. This really serves two purposes – it needs done, of course, but also gives me a chance to brush up on my css and web design skills.

This made me think of another dual purpose pursuit – a photo-a-day project. Forcing yourself to take a photograph every single day really encourages creativity, and out of these 365 photos, at least a few will eventually be added to my portfolio. More creative shots, plus expanding the portfolio. Brilliant.

I’ve added a link to the sidebar, of course, but the 365 project can be found at http://mooreclick.wordpress.com.
