Renovation

February 26, 2008

The website has had a much needed redesign, and is open to the public once more. We’ve had the same website design since 2005, and it was in dire need of an update. In addition to the aesthetics, we’ve edited the content and done some work on the navigation. Enjoy!

While at Chatham, I did a short documentary on women’s hockey called “Piranha”. The Pittsburgh Piranhas are an amateur women’s ice hockey team (www.pittsburghpiranhas.com), and they allowed me to interview the team, and tag along to a tournament in Ohio. While I was there, I was able to meet the founder of the team, who had since moved to Dayton. Everyone was super cooperative and it was a great experience overall. Recently, a representative from HDFest (www.hdfest.com) approached me about featuring the video in their documentary showcase. Just click on “watch documentaries” in the sidebar to check it out!

Back to school, again.

February 19, 2008

I’ve decided to pick up some more web skills, and enrolled in a CSS and XHTML class. I’ve learned what I can from various websites, but I think an actual structured class is probably the best way to go about this. At the moment, I can either make a website in Flash, or using tables in Dreamweaver (which was apparently outdated even before I learned to do it that way in college). I’ve also started learning SQL and Access, and have made some mostly unnecessary databases. I’ve always loved Excel more than a person probably should, so I’ve gone a bit nuts with this new way to organize data. No one needs their grocery list as a database.
